Abstract: In this paper, a scalar variation analysis based on elliptical Gaussian field approximation of the fundamental mode of bow-tie fiber is presented. The mode field radii with, various structures are obtained. And also, the relations between the mode field radius and various splice losses of bow-tie fiber are shown in this paper.
