Abstract: In this paper, the P-wave scattering equation of a weak inhomogeneous elastic medium is derived from the elastic wave equation of an isotropic medium. The inversion procedure of P-wave velocity and density distributions of the elastic medium within Born approximation is presented, by using the extrapolating field methods developed in Refs.[1]and[2].
