Abstract: This paper, based on the pattern recognition point of view, deals with the problems of restricted response within the narrow upper and lower control criteria by combining the eigenvalue decomposition method with the experimental design technique. The plane distributive structure in the experimental design space is determined by decomposing the covariance matrix of the specified pattern class. This method is used to analyze the relationship between the alloy composition and the alloy expansion coefficient. A quasilinear hyperplane is obtained in this design space. The stable design level is shown by the two-dimension display.
