Abstract:

Density control is a key technique in surveillance sensor networks. In this paper, a new density control algorithm called Enhanced Sponsored Sector Coverage (ESSC) is presented based on the Sponsored Sector Coverage (SSC).The proposed method takes account of some drawbacks in the SSC algorithm and modifies it to minimize the active node number.Analysis and experiments show that ESSC can reduce the number of active nodes by up to 15%~25% in comparison with SSC while maintaining the network surveillance performance.
