Abstract: Real-time simulation of the soft tissue behavior is a major obstacle in developing a virtual surgery system. In this research, simulation of viscoelasticity is related to a energy dissipation process in a conjugate gradient method. A new approach based on non-linear elasticity and finite element method is suggested, which is more robust and more efficient than the explicit method widely used in real-time surgery simulation. Experimental results show that the new method can be used in real-time simulation of soft tissue with large deformation.
