Abstract: Due to multipath characteristics and the special structure, electromagnetic wave propagation in subway tunnel greatly differs from other confined space. In this paper, statistical characteristics such as root mean square (RMS) delay spread and Doppler spread and Doppler shift of multipath channel in a typical subway tunnel are analyzed using the ray-tracing method and the radio statistics theory. Simulation results show that Doppler spread and shift increase with higher frequency and velocity. However, RMS delay spread is smaller with higher frequency. Simulation results provide a reference for 4G and 5G applications in subway.
