Characteristics Analysis of Noise Transfer of Wavelength Converters Based on Cross-gain Modulation

Abstract: A theoretical model describing the noise conversion characteristics of wavelength converters based on XGM in SOA is established in this paper. The numerical simulation results show that the input pump power and probe power have direct influences on the noise conversion. In an appropriate range of input power, the noise can be effectively suppressed and the quality of the converted signal is improved.
