Abstract: The numerical modeling of room airflows is considered in this paper. It also illustrates the usefulness of computer fluid dynamics (CFD) as a tool for IAQ researches. The time-averaged equations for the conservation of mass, momentum, and energy are solved. A low Reynolds num-ber κ-ε modei is used to simulate the turbulent transport. The code was validated by comparing it with benchmark data for buoyancy-driven cavity flows. The airflows in unfurnished room were then simulated. The use of computational fluid dynamics enables the velocity and temperature fields to be investigated in significantly greater detail than is possible with either analytical or ex-perimental models.
