Abstract:
A novel method for simulating X-ray imaging is presented to describe scattering of photons. The initial projection is generated by a fast ray tracing technique. Properties of the object are recorded and traversed by the rays simultaneously. The scattering points are then picked along the ray direction based on probability of scattering, neglecting the invalid photons. This is followed by Monte Carlo simulation for photon scattering. Experimental results demonstrate that the presented method provides results within several minutes similar to that obtained with the conventional Monte Carlo algorithms.
