THE MATHEMATICAL DISCUSSION ON THE ESTIMATION OF THE STABILITY THRESHOLD SPEED OF FLEXIBLE ROTOR SYSTEMS IN FLUID-FILM BEARINGS

Abstract: The paper is devoted to the discussion of the stability threshold speed of flexible rotor sys tems in fluid-film bearings. It is proved theoretically that the stability threshold speed of a general rotor system is always higher than the threshold speed of the corresponding equivalent single disk rotor. The conclusion offers us a simple approach to estimate the threshold speed of an actural rotor system and provide a theoretical foundation for the approach.
