Abstract: In this paper, the effective Hamiltonian of the strong-coupling surface polaron in polar crystals at finite temperature is derived by means of the linearcombination operators proposed by Huybrechts. The numerical results for KBr are given. It is shown that the lattice vibration weakens the electron-pbonon coupling, and the thickness of the ‘dead layer’ of the polaron increases with the increase of temperature.
