XPS has been used to study air-formed surface oxides on pure copper and iron at both room-temperature and 300℃ and to study the thermal stability of the surface oxides. The results show that the room-temperature surface oxide (Cu2O, Fe2O3 and cupric compounds) can be reduced into metal after being heated at 300~350℃ in high vacuum. The surface oxide (Cu2O and Fe2O3) formed at 300℃, however, can not be reduced into metal after being heated at the same conditions, though CuO can be reduced to Cu2O. It has been suggested that the room-temperature oxides in the two dimensional surface can differ from the bulk oxides with respect to thermodynamical properties.

The measurements of the S-shaped parameter of Doppler-broadening of positron annihilation were carried out for the near-equiatomic Ti-Ni alloys of different concentrations subjected to quenching at different temperatures and then annealed at different temperatures after quenching at 1000℃. The. result showed:(1) the change of S-parameter in the high temperature range of the quenching curves and in the low temperature range of the annealing curves could be explained by the mechanism of single vacancy, (2) for the Ti-Ni alloys, the positron could detect the precipitation in these probable ranges of temperature:300°~700℃ in Ti-49.0 at% Ni,350°~700℃ in Ti-50.0 at%Ni, and 400°~700℃ in Ti-50.5at% Ni, Ti-51.0at% Ni and Ti-51.5 at% Ni, (3) the amount of "defects" on the Ni-rich side was changed more easily by the conditions of the treatment than that on the Ti-rich side, and (4) the amount of "defects" on the Ni-rich side was lower than that on the Ti-rich side under the same condition of heat-treatment.

V4+ ESR studies were carried out in the system of sodium boro-vanadate glasses (Na2O-B2O3-V2O5), and V4+ ESR spectra were measured and analysed. It was found that V4+ ions present in the glasses were in the form of vanadyl-type ions VO2+. The structure of the V4+ ions was an octahedral six co-ordination with a tetragonal compression. The bonding properties of V4+ ions were discussed as well.

An analysis based on the double Shottcky barriers model at the grain boundaries of donor dopant BaTiO3 ceramics indicated that the drift and diffusion conducting mechanism of free electrons might be substituted by a simple thermal excitation mechanism in the case of low density acceptor states at the grain boundaries; the relationship of equivalent resistivity dependence on temperature was derived and fitted with values; the results showed that the resistivity of PTC ceramic materials in the paraelectric phase was linear over a rather wide range of temperature.
The results of experimental investigation on PTC ceramic materials based on (Ba-Sr)TiO3 showed that the density of the acceptor states at grain boundaries could be controlled by the modifier of composition and process, and the PTC ceramic materials with excellent linearity in the temperature region of about 120℃ could be prepared. The experimental results were also discussed.

The dependence of the saturation magnetic moment, ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and Mössbauer effect on the composition and temperature for the Y3-xGdxFe5O12 single crystal system with x=0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 have been studied at a wide range of temperature. The variations of thermo-magnetic curves and compansation points with composition are explained by the theory of ferrimagnetism. The theoretically calculated results agree well with those of experiments. The line-widths of FMR for several theories are evaluated. It is found that the experimental results can be well explained by the phenome-nological theory of ferrimagnetic resonance with some reasonable assumptions. It is also tcund that the substitution of Gd3+ for Y3+ ions in the dodecahedral site has hardly any significant influence on the Mössbouer parameters of Fe3+ ions in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites, whose spectra can be resolved into two subspectra again.

The construction, technology, working circuits, temperature feature, and temperature compensation of the tilt transducer and its data processing system are introduced in this paper. The results show that the total error of the system is less than 2% due to the temperature compensation. The sensibility can reach 10-2 angular second. The system can be used not only for data processing but also for real-time control.

A flexible Boolian mask operation merged algorithm called A algorithm has been developed. It is suitable for a large amount of mask data, including diagonal edges that have any angle. Calculation of Boolian mask combination between different layers of an integrated circuit is a basic procedure in designing rule checking, connectivity checking and device recognition from the layout. A new and clear figure definition and a concise datastructure are used in A algorithm, making the algorithm treatments for various Boolian operations merged and unified. Furthermore, it is easy to design various Boolian operation programs by using A algorithm.

In article[1] the necessary and sufficient condition is given, under which the Boolean function on {0, 1} can be resolved into inclusive-or logic operation of increasing function and decreasing function. In this article we extend this condition to other binary logic operations. In addition, accorcing bo the Boolean isomorphism theorem we also give monotone decomposition theorems of n-ary function on Boolean algebra B≠{0,1}.

In this paper, it is proposed that the plane strain problems in plasticity can be solved with the standardized upper bound modes and the corresponding solutions. As an illustration of the above proposal, the standardized upper bound modes and the upper bound solutions for the compression of a strip between flat dies, indentation of a semi-infinite medium and a semi-infinite block of finite depth resting on a plane foundation by a flat die, die forging and compound extrusion are listed. It shows that the standardized upper bound solutions can make the upper bound solutions generalized, and easily and quickly obtained with a quite small over-estimate, and that the outline of the standardized upper bound modes is similar to that of the slip line field. The similarity of the two makes it possible to find the real slip line field of the corresponding problem and to identify the feasibility of presupposed slip line fields with the standardized upper bound mode.

In this paper, the effective Hamiltonian of the strong-coupling surface polaron in polar crystals at finite temperature is derived by means of the linearcombination operators proposed by Huybrechts. The numerical results for KBr are given. It is shown that the lattice vibration weakens the electron-pbonon coupling, and the thickness of the ‘dead layer’ of the polaron increases with the increase of temperature.

The effects of 60Co gamma radiation on Al-Nitrided SiO2-Si system and the electron beam (5 kev) on the Si LW Auger spectra of nitrided SiO2 films have been observed. The results show that the fixed charge density and the surface state density for the nitrided film appear to be less sensitive to gamma radiation than those for the SiO2 film and the electron beam effect is almost neligible, because of Si-N bonds in the nitrided film.

For increasing the recording density of the magnetic recording disk, the flying height of the magnetic head has to be reduced. This is very difficult as there are many protrusions on the disk which are difficult to inspect.
This paper presents the magnetic disk testing system monitored by acoustic emission. Based on the receiving signals, the surface quality of the disk could be evaluated.
In addition, by using the AE system, the processes of removing protrusions on the disk could be monitored, and the characteristics of the taking off and landing of the magnetic head could be observed.
