Design of Low-Density Parity-Check Codes for Digital Amplitude Modulation Broadcasting System

Abstract: The recently proposed extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart is a powerful yet simple method for optimizing irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes.In this paper, the technique is applied to a digital amplitude modulation broadcasting (DAMB) system with satisfactory results.Simulation results show that optimized LDPC codes outperform turbo codes in various broadcast channels.This may provide references in developing DAMB systems.
