From the viewpoint of production, the task of productive technology may be considered as the study aimed at solving productive problems of "today"; the task of applied sciences, that of "tomorrow"; and the task of fundamental sciences, that of "day after tomorrow". The first is of paramount importance because it involves the immediate well-being of the whole people, therefore the main force should be allotted. However, without research in applied sciences, means of production will soon become obsolete. So enough effort should be applied to it. The task of fundamental sciences is to study the ultimate nature of the universe, matter, and life. Most of the fruits of its research have no direct connection with production, but some findings thereof may open up entirely new means and directions, so it should not be neglected either.

The strict size of polycrystalline translucent alumina ceramic are tube is paramount importance for the production of long life high, pressure sodium lamp, while lamp efficacy is affected by transmittanoe of light in the ceramic are tube. The present paper studied the processing of alumina tube formed by isostatio pressing. The effect of the characteristics of starting materials, additives and heating condition on the miorostruoture and light transmittance of the alumina arc tube obtained were investigated. Arc tubes with strict size, uniformly sized grains and a total light transmittance of 94~95% are now fabricated in mass production.

The orientation of magnetic moments of columnar crystalline (CO) Fe-Cr-Oo-Mo-Ti permanent magnet is investigated by means of Mossbauer effect (ME) at room and low temperatures, and by means of ferromagnetic resonance (FME.) at room temperature (RT). The result is compared with that of CC Alnioo 5. The orientation of CC samples is better, and higher coercive force

may be obtained. The
H

variation between RT and 77K is measured, with

reduced with decreasing temperatures. This fact is duo to the transition to ferromagnetic phase from paramagnetic phase and to the reduction of the difference of magnetization. It appears that the mechanism of reverse magnetization is agreement with the model of rotation of single-domains.

Low dislocation InP crystals in a<111>P direction were pulled with a liquid encapsulated Czochralski technique by impurity doping procedure. Grown-in dislocations were diminished when the sulfur or sulfide was doped. The impurity effect on the dislocation density was examined. Dislocation density was obviously decreased when sulfur concentration exceeded 2×10

with compensation ratio in the range of 0.1~0.3. The coefficient of effective distribution of sulfur in InP grown by LEC is 0.68.
Since S-doped InP crystals have better radial and longitudinal homogeneity than Sn-doped ones, it will bring about stabilization in device fabrication and improvement in material applicability.

A new electrochemical method has been developed for selective etching of semi-insulating QaAs (gallium arsenide) using citric acid-hydrogen peroxide-water system. The effects of electrolyte composition, etching time and current density on the etching rate are studied. The etched surfaces are also examined by SEM. The experimental results show that a smooth surface and flatbottomed holes can be obtained with this method. Based on simple faradic analysis, it is found that the effect of DO current is to make the surface smooth, but the dissolution mechanism of GaAs in electrochemical etching is, probably, mainly due to chemical reaction.

At the same time, the changes in mechanical strength cf compact bone tissue and the mechanical problem in clinical orthopaedics have found.

The behaviour of rotor blades moving through the wake flow coming from stator departs from one which is designed by the potential flow theory, for example, the lift force on the blades is fluctuating. Hence the total pressure in flow is changeable. Based on the vortex theory, the present paper deduces an expression of the fluctuating lift force on cascade moving through a small shear flow, and presents a simple computational method by using the suggestion given in Ref.[4]. Comparison with the experimental results of Ref.[9] is satisfactory. Our method helps the rotor designer to adjust the design parameters selected.

The carrier concentration and mobilities profiles of implanted layers on the Cr-doped S. I-GaAs after annealing depend on the substrate qualities. In many oases, the departure of carrier concentration profiles from the L. S. S. curve is due to the presence of high background impurities in the substrates, while the Hall mobility profiles of implanted layers are influenced by the residual stress from radiation damage.
