This paper diseusses periodio stiffened strips made with two different kinds of materials and each strip with a random oraek or hole. The strueture is under extension along the longitudinal direction. Stress intensity factors at the craek tips are computed by complex variable functions and perturbation method and formulas are given in power series forms. For applied structures in engineering, numerical tables and figures are given for stress intensity factors. These results extend further the contents of "Handbook of Stress Intensity Factors".

Using the photoelectrie effect of semiconductors (materials and devices), a new imaging detection system, photoelectric microscope, has been established. Some static and dynamic photoelectric imagings of several integrated circuits have been obtained by the microscope. Thee results show that the photoelectric microscope can be used not only to detect the static defects of various integrated circuits (including large scale integrated circuits), but also to search the logic levels and charges distributions in integrated circuits. It provides a convenient and effective, non-contacting and nondestructive technique that can be used in normal atmospheric circumstances for integrated circuits failure analysis.

Introducing the design scheme and analysing the experimental results, the paper proves that the X-band liquid level guage made according to the FM-CW principle can be used on semi-submerged drilling well platforms. The theory and practice indicate that the operating distance to sea level is more than 30 meters for all weathers. Three static parameters:the water depth, the transversal and longitudinal dip angles are measured above waving sea using appropriate automatic data processing and the accurancy of the measurement is satisfying.

The values of specific contact resistance (p0) for both Au/n-InP and Au/p-InP have been calculated theoretically based on the carrier transport study of metal-semiconductor systems. The results, which are presented graphically, show the dependence of p0 on impurity concentration from 1018 to 1021cm-3, and the barrier height from 0.3~1.0 eV. It is found that the Schottky barrier height (φB) would not be changed with annealing temperature below 350℃ in 3 min. When the annealing temperature is higher than 350℃, a poor ohmic contact will be formed in the case of Au/n-InP system, but for Au/n-InP system, only a reduction of φB will be observed. It is determined that an obvious alloying takes place at about 350℃. The computed theoretical results are used to interpret the experimental data of Au Zn/p-InP ohmic contact published in the literatures and the problems exist in our p-type ohmio contact technology are discussed.

Moreover, corrosion can be avoided since catalysts of strong aoid and strong alkali are substituted by resin catalysts. And monoesterification can be fulfilled in half the time spent on ordinary processes.

We suggest an empirical method for interpreting the 4.2.K PL spectra of certain complex defects. The essence of this method is assuming a constant k to take care of the difference in photoluminescenoe efficiency of certain coexisting defects. Some useful results have been obtained by applying this method to the interpretation of the 0.65eV and 0.80eV bands in the PL spectra of undoped, SI LEO GaAs reported in the recent literature. It is shown that the use of this method helps to shed some light on the nature of the defects involved. This success reflects the reasonableness and usefulness of the proposed method in interpreting 4.2 K PL spectra of certain semiconducting compounds, especially GaAs. In addition, the present results also support the common origin hypothesis for EL2 and the arsenic antisite AsGa as well as the strain model for EL2 proposed by one of the authors in two previous papers.

According to fluid mechanics, molecular diffusion and heat conduction, the paper offers a new theoretical analysis for determining the drain pipe location and its scales at a model-made crucible. This is very important in getting optical glass liquid of good quality. By calculating the glass liquid flow of a model-made crucible, we can determine the location of the drain pipe at the bottom of the crucible for eliminating "stripes" in the products.By computing the temperature field in the drain pipe, the paper yields the relationship among the minimum value of the length Lm, diameter D, Reynolds number Re and Prandtl number Pr of the glass liquid and offers a foundation for determining the length of the drain pipe. A calculation example and a formula for determining the diameter D of the drain pipe are given in the paper. It is believed that the analysis and calculation given here are of some value to designing mixers in chemical engineering industry.

A series of rigid-rigid polysulfone-nylon 6 (PSF-N6) block copolymera containing polysulfone and nylon 6 segments of varying molar composition have been synthesized. The effect of PSF equence length and content on the prooessibility, heat-resistance, water-absorption and mechanical properties of the PSF-N6 block copoly-mers were studied.
It has been shown that the processibility of the copolymer decreases when the amount and M. W. of PSF increases in the copolymers, and the glass transition temperature increases monotonically as a function of polysulfone content. As the polysulfone content increases, water-resistance of the copolymer increases, and the modulus decreases.Due to the semi-crystalline nature of PSF-N6 block copolymer, the solvent and environmental stress crack resistance of the copolymers are significantly improved comparing with that of the polysulfone homopolymer. The copolymers are more formic acid resistant than N6, presumably due to the introduction of polysulfone segments.

A solid state galvanic cell has been employed to determine the phase diagram of the ternary system Li-Fe-S in the temperature range from 360 to 550℃. Li4SiO4 +40m/o Li3PO4 was used as an electrolyte. According to the general principle to investigate the phase diagram with electrochemical coulometrio titration, the samples do not have to be quenched and only electrical quantities are required to be measured. Thus, the partial phase diagram of ternary system Li-Fe-S for the region of lithium content lower than 10 atom% and Fe:S atomic ratio bigger than 47:53 has precisely been constructed.

The absorption of two beams in the infrared range are compared using the infrared measuring method. The energy of one beam of wavelength 1.93 μm is absorbed by water molecules and is compared with the energy of a reference one of wavelength 1.78μm uninfluenced by water content. As the pathes of both rays through the tested material are the same, the ratio of the energies arriving at the detector is in direct relation to the moisture content of the material tested.
The infrared moisture meter has been operating continuously for two years with an aocurancy better than 0.5% H2O.

The derivation of the acoustic wave equation which is valid for piezoelectric semiconductor crystals of any symmetry and for any acoustic propagating direction is presented. Three mechanisms contributing to Brillouin scattering in high resistivity ZnO crystal are analysed. They are the elasto-optic effect, rotational contribution of shear wave and the electro-optic effect induced by the aocompaning potential. Thermal Brillouin scattering in ZnO crystal is performed. All of five independent elastic constants of ZnO crystal in high frequency range at room temperature are measured and the values are smaller than those reported in lower frequency by about 4.5%. Four photoelastio coefficient relations are given and the curve of the reciprocal velocity of quasi-longitudinal acoustic wave in x-z plane 10 depicted.

This paper hag probed into a new type of waveguide lenses which may be called the waveguide eleotrooptio Bragg grating lens. According to the eleotrooptio effect of eleotrooptio-crystal and the principle of diffraction of Bragg grating, the refractive index change can be induced in the waveguide under an aluminum electric pole when a suitable do voltage is applied to it and the chirped grating with inclined stripes is formed. The pole is a chirped interdigital one with inclined stripes made with conventional lithographical technique. The grating diffracts and focuses the incident light beam and acts as a lens. This type of lenses has the advantages of being simple in manufacturing and easy in integrating with other components of integrated optics. Our grating has a 40mm focal length and 14μm diameter focal spot.
