The conditions for perfect absorption under oblique incidence in a single-layer homogeneous absorber backed by a perfect conducting plate is studied in this paper. The oases corresponding to the two types of polarization of the incidence-wave, perpendicular polarization (TE) and parallel polarization (TM), are discussed respectively. Some conclusions and curves are given.

This paper reports the dynamic read/write properties of magneto-optical (MO) disks having an AIN/TbFeOo/AlN/Al multilayer structure. When the recording bit size is 1 μm, the value of carrier to noise ratio (0/N) of MO disks exceeds 45 dB. This paper also discusses some reasons which affect 0/N, according to the measured results.

In this paper we present an essentially analytic method for solving four layer planar optical waveguides by using the asymptotic theory which expands the propagation constant into asymptotic series in terms of a small parameter. This method itself is exact and can approach any accuracy desired. However, tha numerical results for a crystal[fiber-optic polarizer show that the second order solution is accurate enough.

A new type of imaging detection system, confocal laser scanning microscope (OLSM), has been established, Using the optical confocal method, laminated imaging of three-dimensional reconstructions and quantitative measurements of structures with height differences can b& obtained. OLSM images, thus obtained, tend to have better resolution (spatial resolution is about 0.2/μm) and sharper contrast than those obtained with an optical microscope. Furthermore, OLSM haa the function of photoelectric imaging. The detection results of several integrated circuits are shown in this paper, which proves OLSM is a convenient, effective, noncontact and nondestructive detection system for the images and measurements of semiconductor materials and devices, as well as other samples Such as biological materials, etc.

Based on the consideration that the acceptable region of 10's is capable of change, a method of multiple-criterion optimization with income maximization is proposed and the procedure of solving approximation function of income maximization is given. Then taking the optimal design of a real circuit for example, the necessity of replacing yield maximization with income maximization for the optimization design of Id's is demonstrated.

We have developed the modified point-ion model of Jiang, Jona and Marcus, which has been successfully used to calculate the multilayer relaxation of metal surfaces. In this paper a charge distribution function of a single exponent is assumed for the calculation of Surface relaxation. It is found that the surface multilayer relaxation can be predicted as long as the charge distribution information of the given metal is available.

Given a totally or partially defined Boolean function f(x1,…, xn), the problem that under what conditions f(x1,…, xn)=g((x1,…, xish(xj,…, xt), where sets {i1,…, is} and {j1,…, jt} are a partition of set {1,…,n}, is very interesting and important. Two decomposition methods are presented in this paper. They are suitable for the totally or partially denned Boolean function which is represented by an expression or a truth table, respectively.

This paper proposes a new algebraic algorithm for computing the Euler number of 3-D images. It is based on mathematical principles in differential geometry and algebraic topology. The basic idea can be easily generalized to images defined by other data structures such as a hierarchical data structure. We find that this kind of mathematical description of the basic structures of the objects which are invariant under rigid transformations such as rotation and translation of the ambient Euler space is a useful approach to analyse and understand 3-D images.
